Dear friends, we are pleased to announce a refresh of this website and of network activities. We will be adding more new content and activities in the coming months, so please do contact us if you would like to share a research update, event, or other communication.

As part of the relaunch we are delighted to share a series of new resources, put together by our wonderful colleague Hannah Gormley (University of Edinburgh).

These comprise a set of short thematic sumaries of key topics in the social science of weather and climate forecasting, with bibliographic information for further recommended readings by network members and others working in this field:

  • Communicating and Interpreting Forecasts & Predictions
  • Ethnoclimatology and Other Forms of Expertise
  • Unpredictability and Error in Talking about the Weather
  • Governing for the Future
  • Planning for Disaster and Insuring for Extreme Weather
  • Can Technology Change the Weather?
  • Seeing the Signs: Eco-Anxiety, Activism and Experiences of 'Strange' Weather
